During my study at the University of Arts Utrecht we got to create a game about the history of dutch child labour. It was to be used in the Openlucht Museum Arnhem. Our concept was a mobile game but we wanted the museum and exploration in the museum to be the main focus of the player. The mobile game had to have a supportive role and give the player a reason to explore.
The game takes place in the year 1800 - 1900. Locations varry from the farmlands, Towns and Cities, all matching the proper location in the Museum. As a player you take care of a family by sending them to do various activities, all with pros and cons.
The game is developed in Java with Android Studio. The team consisted out of Cairan Steverink (programmer), Niels van Unen (producer), Justus Sluijter (artist), Davey Verhoef (designer), Herman Wegter (designer).
